In the Bible there was a sporting event that played a huge part of the culture. Olympics. The apostle Paul understood that the Olympics games were part of the culture. He used running and boxing as metaphors for the Christian life.2 Timothy 4:7 CEB I have fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Had football been around, the verse may have said...2 Timothy 4:7 I gave everything I had on the field, went all out on every play, and kept the faith.Many similarities in our walk with Christ & sports. There are teams, opponents, victories, defeat, coaches, players, playbook & rules. Sports offer a window to see all of these elements come together. 1 Peter 4:10 LB. We are an on an assignment by God. You have a place, a purpose, a role, and a function to fulfill. Philippians 1:27 NCV Part of the church’s responsibility is to identify and release your abilities for serving God. Whenever you serve others in any way, you are actually serving God. Matthew 25:31-40 ERV The truth is, anything you did for any of my people here, you also did for me. When we do for others on behalf of God...we are executing God’s Principles. Doing and serving for God translates or is compared to an athlete practicing on the field. Winning begins on the practice field. Winning for Believers is doing for others. Proverbs 11:25 NIV A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. God's Word challenges us to get on the field, run with all we got, and cross the goal-line to victory. How can I execute my assignment “To Do” for God? Take a step of faith and ask God what specifically you can do for His Church. Get involved and get plugged in here at Bridge Point. Don’t let another day go by without doing something for God.
