Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. The theme of peace dominates the Bible. - Peace is mentioned more than 429 times. When a person has we as one connection to God you tend to become more incline to strive for harmony. However at the Sermon on the Mount Jesus introduces another shade of a peacemaker. Jesus knew that true peace would only come to those who are willing to put their faith in Him. Jesus offers the opportunity to connect man to God. Being a peacemaker comes with a price ...it requires presenting the message of the cross. 1 Corinthians 1:18 ERV The teaching about the cross seems foolish to those who are lost. But to us who are being saved it is the power of God. The world deems the message of Jesus foolishness. 1 Corinthians 1:19-21 For it is written I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate. Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Peacemakers connect people to God. Matthew 5:10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Because of our relationship to Jesus Christ, persecution becomes our lot in life. John 15:18-19 NLV If the world hates you, you know it hated Me before it hated you. If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. You do not belong to the world. I have chosen you out of the world and the world hates you. Jesus did not mean that Christians are blessed because they were going to be persecuted. He meant that whenever Christians are persecuted they are blessed.
