This podcast is spoken word pieces delivered via Borgesian transcranial linguistic stimulation that fuses science, history, culture, and art into single vision I call aleatory neurotransmission. Some of the pieces are mine, but poetry from other writers in multiple times and locations are also read, with proper attribution, to give a sense of humanity as a product of both civilization and nature.

Japanese literature and neurobiology are two disciplines that should be combined more often! The title of this episode comes from the Kobo Abe novel, which was adapted by Abe and Teshigahara into an under-appreciated film that explores the tension between individual and society.
